"Defenders of the Force"
The "Defenders" are members of all Air Force Security Force units worldwise. Their motto-Defensor Fortis, or Defenders of the Force. Their mission- Force Protection. Their symbol, the falcon over crossed runways, is derived from the heraldry of the Vietnam-era's 82nd Combat Security Police Wing. The mission of the 82nd was to provide the Air Force with worldwide ground defense capability and has become the model for modern Air Force Security Operations.
